The Crown of Halacha

Who We Are

Keter HaTorah is a Yeshiva passionate about increasing the understanding, knowledge, and study of halacha.  Our programs focus on an in-depth understanding of the Shulchan Aruch and the mechanics that drive the processes of halachic decision-making.

What Makes Us Unique

The Keter HaTorah bais medrash may be located in Ramat Beit Shemesh, but our talmidim are all over the world.  Using web-based and distance learning technology, we have extended the Keter HaTorah bais medrash to include cities such as Baltimore, Sydney, Chicago, Dallas, and Houston.

Our Yeshiva maintains devoted groups of alumni and talmidim worldwide who continue their Torah education through our institution.

Who Are Our Talmidim?

The talmdim of Keter HaTorah, both in Israel and abroad, include active community Rabbis, outreach professionals, doctors, lawyers, architects – you name it!  We have Talmidim who learn full-time, as well as those who work full time.  Many of our Talmidim have Yeshiva backgrounds and have joined Keter HaTorah to continue their learning while in the working-world.

What they all have in common is a willingness to devote their evenings and available time to the committed study of the Gemara, Rishonim, Acharonim, and Shulchan Aruch, to better their understanding of Torah and their bond with the Creator.

What We Offer

Keter HaTorah currently offers several programs including Issur VeHeter, Shabbos, Choshen Mishpat, and Taharas Mishpacha.  The goal of these courses is to equip the talmid with not only a practical understanding of the halacha, but the requisite skills for the study of the Shulchan Aruch and halachic literature.

Students who succeed in their studies may take examinations and sit for Semikha, Rabbinic Ordination, in their chosen areas.   We encourage all talmidim to strive for this as a goal in their learning; it assists in keeping one motivated and sets concrete goals in the limud.

How It Works

Once a Talmid is accepted, they will begin receiving 1 to 2 written shiurim per week in PDF format.  Additionally, the Talmid will be given access to the website for the chabura that he has joined.  Through the chabura website, the Talmid can access a library of online seforim, regular video and audio lessons for the course, and participate in live classes.  The Talmidim will also be given access to the discussion board where they may participate in active conversations with other members of the chabura.

The instructors will regularly examine the chaburas to guague the progress of the group. Those Talmidim who wish to sit for semicha must satisfactorily pass all exams before qualifying for the semikha tests.
